Julie McLeod

Having discovered a passion for yoga in her 40’s, Julie learned that no matter what your age or physical abilities it's never too late, physically and mentally she noticed the benefits immediately.

Julie feels that yoga has given her a greater appreciation of life and it has taught her to embrace change and live life in the moment. Through self discovery came a heightened sense of awareness, acceptance and gratitude for herself and others.

Julie obtained her Purna Yoga Teacher Training Certification in 2013 from the Byron Yoga Centre and has completed 50 hours Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Mel McLaughlin. She regularly attends workshops, dedicates many hours to self study and continues to learn and draw inspiration from her students and teachers.

Julie's aim as a yoga teacher is motivating students to believe in their own potential so they can develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of their mind and body.

During class, Julie encourages students to work with and respect the limitations of their own body. In time, this will encourage students to nurture themselves and approach yoga from a place of love, curiosity and acceptance.

PURNA YOGA

Purna Yoga is a complete form of body work that develops our sense of balance and harmony which involves stretching to gain flexibility and relaxation to develop peace of mind, in turn this will deepen our awareness and appreciation of our bodies.

Purna means complete and Purna Yoga integrates the different aspects of Yoga for the union of the body and the mind. Purna Yoga teaches alignment-based asana, pranayama along with meditation and yogic living. Sequences range from gentle restorative to dynamic. Blocks, belts and bolsters are available to be used to support and modify postures safely.

People who have done no physical exercises will find numerous benefits from this type of Yoga. Its foundation is through careful alignment of the body as you hold the poses. This precision and the awareness that comes with it will lead to tremendous growth - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

This is a specific style of Yoga that features Iyengar precision and alignment while bringing physical, mental and emotional awareness and helps facilitate personal growth.
